If you are like most small business owners, you wear many hats—marketer, accountant, content creator, sales, customer service, and the list goes on. As such, we wanted to mention some great (and free) tools to help make your job easier.
Whether it’s search engine optimization, local visibility, finding keywords and titles, or creating great graphics for marketing and social media, here are some helpful tools to help you fine-tune your website and online marketing efforts.
Search Engine Optimization
Screaming Frog provides both a free and paid version of their SEO Spider Tool, which gives you the ability to crawl your website’s URLs to find broken links, analyze page titles and meta data for appropriate length and for missing tags, reveal duplicate title and tag information across your website, list duplicate content, and more. This is great feedback to help you troubleshoot weak spots in your business website so it can be better optimized.
As a leader in all things search, Moz is always at the top of their game with a variety of free and paid tools to help businesses get the insight needed to become more visible in search results, whether they are a global business or local corner shop. Moz Local -> Check Listing feature allows you to check your listings on Google and Bing as well as several local search engines. You will then be able to see any inconsistencies or missing information for each search engine. From there, you can make your own corrections or have them do it for you (for a reasonable cost).
Curious about the keywords that Google Adwords hides (until <ehem> you cough up a little dough)? Try keywordtool.io to find them. Keyword Tool reveals keyword results based on what people are typing into the Google search box—invaluable information when optimizing your business website and blog content!
Are you suffering from writer’s block? Try this handy tool from Portent to help generate attention-grabbing titles and spark ideas for new content. Simply enter some keywords into the box, submit, and see a possible title magically appear on your screen. Some titles are funny, but not necessarily ones you would consider using. Don’t like the title? Hit the refresh button to the right of the box to see more possible titles. While you are there, check out their comprehensive content strategy guide—good stuff.
No graphic designer on the team? No problem. Canva lets you design social media images, ads, presentations, and more like a boss. Use it for free or choose additional elements to spice up your graphics for a very small fee. Then watch your team members stare in amazement at what you have created.
Of course, there are many more amazing tools out there to help you boost your online visibility, but these are some of our favorites. We will be covering more in future posts.
